What Is Anxiety?

Anxiety is an emotion that normally occurs in response to stressful situations. It is characterized by fear, worries, restlessness, and physical body reactions like headaches, nausea, shortness of breath, or hypertension.

Anxiety disorders often differ in the severity and frequency of symptoms. These are mental illnesses that affect day-to-day life and often require professional assistance: therapy sessions, medications, or both.

Prescription Management for Anxiety

Pharmacological treatment of anxiety disorders is varied and is planned individually. The choice of medication depends on your diagnosis, other medicines that you are prescribed, and additional aspects revealed during an assessment.

Useful Materials

Just like other conditions, people with anxiety disorders cannot diagnose themselves — an assessment conducted by a healthcare expert is needed. Still, learning more about the symptoms, coping techniques, and self-help treatment options is a beneficial addition to counseling or prescription management.

Major Types of Anxiety

Pharmacological treatment of anxiety disorders is varied and is planned individually. The choice of medication depends on your diagnosis, other medicines that you are prescribed, and additional aspects revealed during an assessment.

Generalized anxiety disorder

GAD is defined as an overwhelming and exaggerated feeling of unease. It can cause constant worrying about everyday matters and influence daily functioning hence requiring mental health care.

Social anxiety disorder

Social phobia is a type of fear or embarrassment that occurs in one or several social situations.

Obsessive-compulsive disorder

OCD involves obsessions (intrusive thoughts) and compulsions (repetitive behaviors: checking things, washing hands, etc.). Treatment aims to eliminate or manage obsessions and reduce compulsive rituals.

Panic disorder

A person with a panic disorder experiences panic attacks that involve mental and physical symptoms: a feeling of intense fear, shortness of breath, and chest pain, among others.

Post-traumatic stress disorder

Participants and witnesses of frightening or traumatic events can develop PTSD. Common symptoms include flashbacks, dissociation, recurrent memories, nightmares, and severe worries. PTSD often affects day-to-day functioning.

Postpartum anxiety

All parents worry about their children but in some cases, these feelings become excessive. These may involve constant fear, fatigue, sleep problems, and physical symptoms, such as trembling, or nausea, and require treatment.

Separation anxiety disorder

Adults with separation anxiety disorder may feel extremely worried when their significant others are away even for a short period of time.

Performance anxiety

Increased stress about performing in public accompanied by trembling, sweating, nausea, etc. It may affect self-confidence, careers, and social connections.

Health anxiety

It is characterized by exaggerated worrying about getting a serious illness even when there are no valid reasons to think so.

Step 2 – Initial video visit. See a certified healthcare provider who will assess your symptoms, review your health history and create a personalized treatment plan.

Step 3 – Follow-ups. Connect with your provider regularly to track your progress, refill your prescriptions, and discuss any questions related to the treatment process.

Currently, we have medical providers licensed to offer healthcare services and prescribe medications online in the following states: California (CA), Colorado (CO), Florida (FL), Illinois (IL), Indiana (IN), Maine (ME), Michigan (MI), New York (NY), North Carolina (NC), Ohio (OH), Oregon (OR), Pennsylvania (PA), Texas (TX), Virginia (VA), Vermont (VT), Washington (WA), Wisconsin (WI)

The initial appointment is a 30-minute online consultation with a medical provider. A clinician will assess your symptoms, make a diagnosis, create a treatment plan, and provide you with a prescription if deemed necessary.

Follow-up visits are 15 minutes in length and allow you and your doctor to monitor your progress and adjust your treatment plan if needed.

The cost of an appointment is dependent on the type of service. The majority of our services cost $195 for an initial appointment and $159 for a follow-up appointment. Please contact our Care Team if you want to know the exact price of your visit in advance. Alternatively, choose the service you want on your Personal Portal and purchase it.
Medical providers at MEDvidi are Medical Doctors (MD), Doctors of Osteopathic Medicine (DO), Nurse Practitioners (NP), Psychiatric Nurse Practitioners (PHNP), and Physician Assistants (PA). They are certified to diagnose and treat mental health conditions as well as prescribe medications online, including controlled substances.
Healthcare providers at MEDvidi can legally prescribe a variety of medications for numerous conditions: ADHD, anxiety disorders, depression, and other mental health related conditions. The medications that may be prescribed include non-scheduled and Schedule II-V medicines. Note that the necessity for prescribing any medication is determined by your provider after a thorough evaluation of your symptoms, health history, and other factors.
We understand that you may have expectations regarding specific treatments, and our medical team will consider your request. However, being responsible for prescribing the most appropriate medication, your clinician may define another option as safer and potentially more effective.

We carefully select medical providers, making sure they are experienced and qualified to treat a range of mental health conditions. But sometimes, finding the right medication requires trial and adjustment. So, if you feel your current medication isn’t working, discuss this openly with your healthcare provider.

Currently, MEDvidi doesn’t accept insurance. We work on collaborating with several insurance providers and we will notify our patients once this option becomes available. Thank you for your understanding. Feel free to contact our Care Team at (504) 414-5095 or [email protected] for more information.
Currently, medical practitioners at MEDvidi do not provide disability letters.
According to the information from the DEA, several changes in prescribing controlled substances through telehealth should have become valid on November 11, 2023. However, as per the latest update from the DEA, current rules have been extended until December 31, 2024. So, patients can continue receiving online prescriptions without the need to see their healthcare providers in person.
